I am going to high school now. As math has always been my problem area , I purchased the course books in advance. I am plan studying a couple of chapters before the classes start. Any kind of pointers would be highly appreciated that could aid me to start studying matlab solve nonlinear equation myself.

Welcome aboard friend . This subject is very appealing , but you need to know your concepts and techniques first. Algebrator has guided me a lot in my course. Do give it a try and it will work for you as well .
I would advise using Algebrator. It not only helps you with your math problems, but also provides all the required steps in detail so that you can improve the understanding of the subject.
